Old Newport and Wormit Fife Scotland

Old Newport and Wormit, Fife, Scotland. The Tay Road Bridge, opened in 1966, saw the end of Newport as the ferry port gateway to the Kingdom of Fife, and afterwards both it and Wormit rapidly became part of Dundee's suburbia. Mairi Shiels' book depicts the days when Newport and Wormit bustled with travellers and were relatively busy places. Among the more unusual pictures are some of the training ship Mars, which was once moored off Woodhaven Pier, as well as a view of camels and elephants forming an orderly queue at the Newport Slip when the circus travelled through town.
